Hello from Long John
Long John Laundry’s eagerly awaited 3rd album VOODOO CHARM will be released on September 1st 2014 on London based Outlaw Country records.
The album has been in the making for the past 9 months and made during a much-earned break from touring in the UK and Europe.
“We decided that we should get our latest material out while we were getting a media focus on the Cocos Corner album” says Long John “we had great reviews in the UK music press and MUCHO air play on a host of stations… we new we had a something else to give and an albums worth of songs sat waiting so we put the breaks on live performance to record and get it out there..”
The band has now been together in one form or another for over 7 years playing the UK, Europe and a stint in the USA in 2009. The new album, Voodoo Charm, is their 3rd release in as many years and sees a new sound for the band that originally came up from the London punk blues garage scene, playing with the likes of Jim Jones Revue, Urban Voodoo Machine, The Godfathers, Vintage Trouble, The Dirty Strangers and New York dolls – Steve Conte to name but a few.
“We’ve done the rounds for sure!” Says Long John “and we have come out of it with our own sound and most importantly an original attitude towards Blues Rock for the 21st Century! We are making music for with the more mature in mind!”
The band is currently planning UK, Europe and US dates from October with eyes on major UK festival slots in 2015.
“We have a rocking live act now that’s an unstoppable machine when we get started, its like nothing I’ve ever experienced before with any other musicians, it just all make sense and we love the sound. It’s the best thing!” says Long John.
The new album has guest appearances from some impressive star guests including Brian James (The Damned) on Pretty Things, Del Bromham (Stray) on Hell I Aint your Lovin Man! Plus keyboards from Keith Weir of the Quire Boys!
